Cleaning oiled sea sand with
PetroGuard-D
One of our customers is becoming involved in a large remediation project and asked us if PetroGuard-D would work effectively in this application. His plan was to use PetroGuard-in a “sand washing” operation and although we had not done any tests he wanted to prove that this would actually work.
He collected some used bunker oil and added it to some common sea sand and let it stand for 72 hours. He then added water and a measure of PetroGuard-D, and stirred for approximately 1 minute. He then skimmed off the floating solidified oil, showed no oil sheen on the water and ended up with clean sand.
This will be tested in a “live” test using a cement mixer or ribbon blender as the vessel. We believe that this trial will show that PetroGuard-D has the ability to be used effectively in this type of operation, using scaled up equipment such as depicted below.
