Ahhhhh the New Year! The New Year often brings renewed optimism and confidence about the future. Time is spent reflecting on last year, working to solidify what did work, projecting what will be needed this year and generally tidying things up.
So, the project begins. You clean out the storage cabinets, dispose of the old and purchase new. As you get ready to purchase new products and re-organize and dispose of the old you decide the floors in the plant need paint and the walls in the office should be brightened up.
Fast forward a few weeks. The organizing, sprucing up and decluttering is complete.
But you have one problem. You have leftover paint and you are not sure how to get rid of it.
We suggest you first try to find a paint recycling program. If you can’t find a paint recycling program you are going to have to solidify the left-over paint, encapsulate it into a non-leaching solid and dispose of it.
If you have oil based paint left over and have been using PetroGuard around your plant for maintenance or spill control, then you have all you need. Simply use a small amount of the PetroGuard and it will solidify and encapsulate the paint into a non-leaching solid.
PetroGuard is a very economical way to solidify and encapsulate leftover paint.
Kitty litter tends to increase the volume of the liquid it is solidifying and it can leach. This complicates the disposal.
PetroGuard has a very low volumetric increase and will not leach, which saves time and money on disposal.
It is best to always check with your local area regarding rules and regulations for disposal of paints. If you used a little bit of the PetroGuard that you had on hand, don’t forget to tell them that the paint is now totally encapsulated, solidified and non-leaching.
